Rotheram Carrington Financial Recruitment is pleased to be working with a dynamic SME business based in the Northwich area.  This business has been on a steady growth trajectory for the past 2 years, and due to this expansion, they are now seeking a Management Accountant to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of the operational finance processes in a dynamic, business.  Working closely with the Finance Director, you will be a key point of contact between senior finance leadership and the wider finance team, responsible for delivering accurate and insightful financial reports, maintaining integrity in financial processes, and supporting continuous improvement across systems.

This role offers exposure to consolidated group reporting, international subsidiaries, and commercial analysis, ideal for someone looking to grow their skill set and develop into a future senior finance role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including trial balance, journal postings, and full reporting packs.
  • Oversee small finance team, ensuring their ongoing development.
  • Deliver clear and concise variance analysis vs. budget and prior periods.
  • Provide detailed gross margin analysis by production cell and customer.
  • Support the Finance Director in consolidating results across multiple group companies.
  • Manage and review ledger maintenance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects across finance processes and systems.
  • Act as a first point of contact for finance team queries, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Support statutory compliance, including VAT returns, TAX obligations, and Companies House/HMRC filings.
  • Liaise with external accountants for overseas subsidiaries and support year-end and bank audits.
  • Help maintain the company’s Confidential Invoice Discounting facility.
  • Manage customer credit insurance cover, ensuring adequate protection is in place.

Experience/Qualifications

  • CIMA, ACCA, AAT or ACA Part-qualified, newly qualified, or recently qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Experienced in preparing management accounts or financial reports in a commercial setting.
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable handling large data sets and financial systems.
  • Eager to grow professionally and develop their leadership and commercial finance skills.
  • Experienced in a mid-sized business or group environment (international exposure desirable but not essential).
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain finance clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a desire to streamline processes.
  • Supportive and collaborative, with a desire to mentor junior team members over time.

Salary/Benefits

  • £40,000 to £50,000 per annum, plus 12.5% bonus based on personal & company performance
  • 23 days plus holidays (holiday buy back scheme)
  • Hybrid working (2 Days WFH) – Probation period would be fully on-site to understand the role
