The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to join a highly successful and well-established organisation based in Chester.

This is a senior finance position with responsibility for one of the larger areas of the portfolio, the successful incumbent will be working closely with key stakeholders across the organisation, including senior colleagues at the London HQ. The role will take ownership of financial reporting, statutory accounting and financial control, providing an excellent opportunity to make a real impact within a professional and forward-thinking finance function.

The successful candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified, with a minimum of 3–4 years’ relevant industry experience in a similar-level role. You will be technically strong, commercially aware and confident working with senior stakeholders at all levels.

The role offers genuine responsibility and autonomy, excellent benefits and a flexible hybrid working environment, with 2 days working from home each week. There will also be occasional travel to the London HQ, expected to be no more than four times per year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Development and management of one Finance Assistant reporting in to this role.
• Oversee month-end and year-end financial close processes.
• Prepare and review management and statutory financial information.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements.
• Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
• Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure appropriate accounting treatments are applied.
• Maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure financial information is accurate and robust.
• Produce financial analysis and insight to support senior management decision-making.
• Work closely with other areas of finance to ensure consistency, accuracy and effective reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning where required.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and efficiencies across the finance function.
• Support and contribute to wider finance projects and business initiatives.

About You

• You will be a fully qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with at least 3 to 4 years’ experience in industry in a similar Financial Reporting, Financial Controller or senior technical accounting position.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
• Experience of statutory accounts and audit processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• The ability to analyse financial information and translate it into meaningful insight.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach with the ability to work independently.
• The ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities effectively.

The Package

• £70,000 – £75,000 per annum
• 12% to 20% pension contribution – with flexibility to take part of this as additional cash
