Rotheram Carrington Recruitment Group have an immediate need for a Payroll Clerk working on behalf of their Client, a very well established organisation based in the Shropshire area. This role is a fixed term contract until March 2022. The role will be based on site along with remote working. The location has good links from the Nantwich, Wrexham, Whitchurch and Ellesmere areas.

Job description

  • All aspects of payroll duties for a weekly payroll of 250 and a monthly payroll of 130
  • Responsible for the setting up new records, new starters and leavers returns, assessing and processing weekly and monthly time sheets
  • Calculation of all SMP, SPP, SSP, Student Loans and pensions are processed in line with legislation
  • Completing Auto-Enrolment pension assessments, reconciliations and making payments to the pension provider
  • Responsible for the preparation of the BACs reports
  • Reconciling PAYE and NI, and making payments to HMRC
  • Responsible for producing month end reconciliations and year end payroll reports
  • Dealing with HMRC queries around RTI submission and pay for all employees
  • Keeping up-to-date with proposed legislation and regulations
  • Continually reviewing processes and working practices to ensure the company maintains an up to date, effective payroll service


  • Previous payroll administration experience – essential
  • Excellent attention to detail able to work at a fast pace dealing with high volumes of information
  • Proficient in the use of Excel & Word
  • Team player with a can do attitude


  • £23,000 to £30,000 per annum (including completion bonus)
  • Hours – 25 hours a week – office based (with flexibility on hours of work, providing payroll gets process to the deadline)
