Rotheram Carrington Recruitment Group are pleased to be supporting a key Client based in the Chester area who are recruiting for a Finance Cost Analyst Accountant, ideally this would be someone who is studying towards their CIMA or ACCA qualification.  This is a very well-established services organisation based on the outskirts of Chester with good network links.  Offering hybrid working, and when you are in the office working in a  open plan modern space.

This is a great opportunity for a studying accountant to work for a business and team that will develop and progress your current skill set, whilst having the support of an experienced finance team behind you.  This role will support the Operations Finance Manager to ensure the ongoing financial control and performance of the business.  This will be a fast paced role, so it is really important that the successful individual thrives on achieving tight deadlines, whilst also ensuring excellent attention to details.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting to the Operations Finance Manager you will support all aspects of financial control activities for a specific business area, including preparing the accruals & prepayments for overheads and labour costs
  • Ensure the accurate reporting of MI including monthly cost analysis to enable clear business position for Senior Directors
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany recharges, including liaison with other divisional Finance teams
  • Provide variance analysis and commentary against budget and forecast costs
  • Maintenance of the capital expenditure and depreciation to both budget & forecast
  • Preparation of annual cost budgets and ongoing forecasts, including liaison with departmental heads
  • Supplier payment approval and other payments processed via AP department
  • Develop a close working relationship with the AP Manager to ensure comprehensive understanding of the cost base (providing support for busy periods and annual leave)
  • Regular communication with Senior FP&A team to ensure a good understanding of the actual cost base and variances to forecast & budget
  • Liaison with internal and external auditors when required
  • Production of vendor & budget management information from our Purchase To Pay & ERP systems
  • Working with the FP&A team and business areas to identify areas for cost saving opportunities and efficiencies
  • Attending regular team sessions with the business, presenting on the monthly financials


  • ACCA/CIMA part qualified, or AAT qualified and above.
  • Excellent Excel & analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills as you will be working with various stakeholders across the business
